World ports and globalization

Large seaports with soaring container ships, supertankers, bulk carriers, mighty cranes, quays full of mountains of colorful containers, surrounded by industrial areas with chemical plants, tanks, energy companies, storage sheds and oil industry are impressive. Largely through the sea and through ports people has, thousands of years ago,
come into contact with each other and has influenced each other . The oldest ports in the world were mainly on rivers – where ships were protected from storms. Such as the Nile in Egypt, the Euphrates and the Tigris in Mesopotamia,
the Indus in India and the Yellow River in China. They traded with each other more than four thousand years ago. Rotterdam also started out as a river port; Antwerp and Hamburg still are. Globalization started thousands of years ago.
